– sense less of place

Smith Tower – once the tallest building in Seattle. Great views of Puget Sound.

A train crossing the tracks near the Sculpture Park, towards the Ballard end of town (maybe, or is it the place beginning with P? I always forget). Click on the pic – this one is really best viewed larger.

So, you spend some time somewhere, you get a feel for the place. Cairns, Melbourne, Matsuyama, Sur, Sydney, Christchurch, Lyttelton, the suburbs of Perth, Fremantle, St Edward Park of Seattle, the Bridle Trail of Boya – Yokohama, Higashiyama, Shibata in Niigata – they all resonate. Chicago, even, the beautiful lake of Towada. I am looking forward to this sun once again sweeping its evening glaze over my skin. The streets empty, yet you’d think they should be full. Yet, they are not really empty, there’s just an abundance of space.
